What folks are saying about 'Dancing In The Rain'

In 40 days, Light In The Dark, will be released into the world. If I'm honest, I'm a bit anxious about it. I want people to like it. I want people to like me. As a songwriter and a human being, I think it's natural for you to want people to like what you do.

I have gotten a lot of great feedback too, from people I know, about the first single 'Dancing In The Rain'. I wanted, though, to get a little feedback from people I didn't know. That way I could get some input from people who have no emotional connection to me, and the song could then stand on it's own. I ended up conducting a market test to see what people thought, and got close to 75 reviews. The following are a few of my favs.

The encouraging ones:

I think this song could be a big hit on the radio for sure. I’m not a big country fan, but this one is kinda nice.”

”Great intro for a country song! Great vocals for a country song as well! This is what I think of when I think of country music and, honestly, it makes me feel like dancing.”

”Can I please marry you!? Your voice is amazing! The instruments are amazing! The lyrics are super sweet and super catchy. I’m sure they will be stuck in my head for days.

The not as encouraging ones:

Cool guitar intro leading into a country fiddle. I hate these songs. Just terrible singing and lyrics about pick up trucks and dogs and whatever, makes it feel like a total paint by numbers.”

”I like the instruments backing the vocals but I’m not a fan of the vocals or the lyrics. This guy sounds better suited to pop, not country. With that being said, the song sounds pretty emotionless and I can’t say I’d listen to it again. I just can’t get past the vocals or the lyrics.

All in all, the overwhelming majority of reviews were very positive, and I did leave encouraged. It just goes to show though, that some people will like what you do, some people won't, and you can't please everybody. Especially not that last reviewer :)
